Our Leadership
Ms. Dawn Woodburn
Administrative Director/Head of School
Ms. Dawn has been involved with The Clarksburg Children’s House since May 2009, when her oldest daughter, Noelle, began as a Primary student. Hence, she has a great understanding of our school’s history. She was one of the original founding members of the Parent Advisory Board and served for 3 years until her youngest daughter, Ivy enrolled at TCCH. Then, she became a full-fledged staff member as an assistant in the Primary classroom.
Ms. Dawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Management from Western Michigan University. She began a Montessori Leadership Certification Program at The Center for Guided Montessori Studies (CGMS) in June 2023 and completed MACTE certification in September 2024. She earned her Primary Montessori Certificate from the North American Montessori Center in 2015. She left us in 2018 for another job, which provided her with valuable experience, but she quickly realized her heart was always at TCCH. She returned in the Fall of 2021 and has since been handling all the everyday duties required to run the school. Because of her experience in the classroom, she can step in at any time if needed.
When not at school she loves to read, cook, refinish furniture, go on adventures with her girls, fish with her husband Pat, and play with her dog, Sophie.
Ms. Kelsey Spaur
Education Director/Primary Lead Teacher
Kelsey has been with The Clarksburg Children’s House since 2015, and her journey with us began as a curious student teacher who quickly fell in love with the Montessori method. After transferring from West Virginia University to Fairmont State University, Kelsey came to TCCH eager to learn and explore, and it didn’t take long for her to decide to plant her roots here.
After completing her degree, Kelsey continued her Montessori education at The Center for Guided Montessori Studies in 2019. The training helped her develop the skills to lead with grace, confidence, and a deep understanding of the Montessori philosophy. She now holds a MACTE-accredited teaching credential in early childhood education and is passionate about nurturing each child’s spirit.
When she’s not at school, Kelsey enjoys spending time on her farm with her husband, Austin, and their beloved pets—dog Maddie and cat Birdie. She comes from a big Italian family who taught her the importance of cooking, loving deeply, and building lifelong connections. Kelsey is a lover of nature, travel, and a good book.
Her passion for nurturing a child’s spirit shines through in everything she does, and she’s always happy to share her love and positivity with the TCCH community. You’ll often find her with a smile on her face and an open heart—so don’t hesitate to say hello!
