About Us

The Clarksburg Children’s House was established in 2006 by Jen Brazier and Kyra Schlosser, as a way to provide their children and others in the community with the benefit of a Montessori preschool experience.

While completing their Montessori teacher training, Jen and Kyra opened a pilot program to the public in the summer of 2007 that continued into the spring of 2008. That fall, after receiving a positive response from the community and with the addition of several hundred square feet to the school, a larger, more complete program was established.  As of September 2011, the school is a fully functioning facility, providing both a quality Montessori preschool education to the community as well the ability to offer a state-approved Kindergarten program.  The inclusion of Kindergarten allows the children to comfortably complete the three year cycle, so that they are able to experience the prepared environment in a way that is stimulating to the senses, exciting to the intellect, and -above all- developmentally appropriate.

In addition to gaining her Montessori Primary Level teaching certificate through the United Montessori Association, Jen has over ten years experience as a certified Elementary Educator.  She has taught in public schools and for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in both the United States and in Germany.  Kyra’s background is in Psychology, but has spent the majority of her career in Education: first as a preschool director in Arizona, then as the Assistant Director of Education at Fort New Salem where she developed and implemented education programs for students of all ages.  Kyra also earned her Montessori Primary Level teaching certification through the United Montessori Association.  Both are licensed and trained Musikgarten instructors as well, which allows them to incorporate music and movement into the daily curriculum.
